Tam Dao National Park has a total area of ​​up to 34,995 hectares with countless different forest classifications such as rich forest, poor forest, bamboo forest, young forest... Here is described as very steep, with many peaks, high and sharp rocks, deeply cleavage terrain... However, it is the reason that this place attracts climbers, adventurers and young students who love to explore.

Because it is located in a mountainous area, the climate is clearly divided. At altitudes below 700-800m, the climate is tropical with rain. 3. What to explore in Tam Dao National Park?

Coming to this place, you will be surprised by the rich flora and fauna with dense vegetation, many layers and diversity of species, biodiversity and ecosystems. Animals have 163 species belonging to 158 families of 39 orders; insect class has 651 species, and bird class has 239 species... and some rare species such as Tam Dao sword butterfly, Tam Dao toadfish, snakes, civets, black squirrels, small loris, horse bears... that attract visitors' curiosity and desire to explore.

There are many itineraries to explore such as visiting Ghost Forest - Pineapple Pond, Natural Park, Lau Gio, Wind Hill, Cloud Hill, Dat Phong Lan or climbing the 3 peaks of Tam Dao.

Increasingly, Tam Dao National Park is expanding its services and diversifying tours around the park. You can choose to go on a tour to explore all the attractions here or you can go on your own in a group to explore Tam Dao National Park in the most authentic way. The entrance is about 1.5km from Tam Dao center, so people often call it "Tam Dao 2 area", the road is quite wide for cars to enter.

Sightseeing and camping

After parking, your journey will be entirely on foot. From the stopover to Wind Hill and Gio Lau is the fastest itinerary, followed by the natural park where you can camp, set up a tent to play. This activity is often organized by students by group games or grilled meat, chicken...

You can visit the surrounding areas such as May Hill, Dat Phong Lan as shown on the map of Tam Dao National Park. These are all areas for tourism, so feel free to explore and visit. The road to the forest is quite dark because of the dense foliage on both sides of the road, there are many trees that are not too big but sturdy. In addition to the trails left by the forerunners, you will also encounter sections with stone steps made by people to serve travel. These roads will be easier to go and less dangerous.

Climbing Tam Dao

After visiting the flat area below, you will come to the more adventurous part, which is climbing. This activity requires local people to accompany you if you don't want to get lost among the three mountains of the Tam Dao range.

Tam Dao mountain range is made up of three mountains, namely Thien Thi, Thach Ban and Phu Nghia, each with a height of over 1300m. To conquer all three mountains you need a day to climb. 4. Some notes when traveling Tam Dao National Park

  • Always carry a light jacket with you to avoid catching a cold
  • Carefully prepare medicines (antibiotics, antipyretics, pain relievers, medical alcohol, bandages ...)
  • If you go in the wet weather like when just finished raining, you should bring specialized drugs to prevent leech because they grow very strongly when it rains.
  • The road to the forest is quite dangerous and winding, there are not too many trails, so it is necessary to have local people to guide the way.
  • Absolutely do not separate the group to arbitrarily go out to areas near waterfalls and streams because the roads leading to waterfalls and streams are very slippery and easy to fall.

5. Where to stay when coming to Tam Dao National Park

If you want to stay in the forest, you can choose to camp on-site to immerse yourself in nature. Camping in the forest is also a great experience of the poetic feeling of life when night falls. This place will be filled with fog and the sound of animals. However, you should not set up campfires around to prevent forest fires.
