1. Where is Perfume Pagoda?

Perfume Pagoda is a famous place in the North of Vietnam. This is a complex of pagodas scattered from the foot to the top of Huong Tich mountain. Perfume Pagoda located in Huong Son commune, My Duc district, is one of the most famous and unique spiritual tourist destinations! About 60 kilometers away from the Hanoi city center, it will take you about two hours to reach ​​Perfume Pagoda.

People often go to Perfume Pagoda on the occasion of the Perfume Pagoda Festival from January to March of the lunar calendar, but actually, you can go all year round. If you go sightseeing, you should avoid the festive season to enjoy comfortably without worrying about being crowded.

2. How to go to Perfume Pagoda?

You can choose to go by car, motorbike or bus.

  • Going by private vehicles

There are two ways to go:

- Direction of Nguyen Trai - Ha Dong, at Ba La junction, turn left towards Van Dinh. Continue going for about 40 km to reach Te Tieu, turn left and ask for the way to Perfume Pagoda.

- Direction of National Highway 1A Phap Van - Cau Gie, go to Dong Van intersection, turn right onto Highway 38, continue going for 15 km in the direction of Cho Dau to reach Perfume Pagoda. However, this road is only for cars.

If you want to ride a motorbike, you should go the first way, or take the old National Highway 1A towards Thanh Tri.

  • Going by bus

You can choose one of bus routes 211, 78, 75, 103. However, when you get off the bus, you will have to walk quite far to get to Perfume Pagoda, therefore you can take a motorbike taxi or taxi to go quickly. But remember to ask the price first.

- Bus 75: Yen Nghia - Huong Son. It will take you about 60 minutes - 80 minutes to get to the Perfume Pagoda. Ticket price: 25,000 VND/person

- Bus 103: My Dinh - Huong Son. Ticket price 9,000 VND/person.

- Bus 78, 211: My Dinh - Te Tieu (Dai Nghia town)

3. Sightseeing points in Perfume Pagoda

Perfume Pagoda is a complex of pagodas scattered throughout Suoi Yen valley. So to visit all the temples here will take you about 2-3 days. If only going during the day, people should only go to Trinh temple, Thien Tru pagoda and Huong Tich cave. These are the main and most sacred temples in the entire ruins.

You can choose one of the following three routes:

 

  • Huong Tich route:

Trinh Temple - Thien Tru Pagoda - Tien Son Cave - Giai Oan Pagoda - Tran Song Temple - Huong Tich Cave - Hinh Bong Pagoda (main trip).

This is the route that most people choose. Following this route, you can go to all the main points in Perfume Pagoda. Ben Duc is the first departure place, you will take a ferry to Trinh Temple. Trinh Temple is the first temple when you get off the boat, you will perform a ceremony here to present to the gods. Next is Thien Tru Pagoda, the most beautiful and widest temple in Perfume Pagoda. Next is Huong Tich Cave located at an altitude of 390m, tourist can climb on foot or take the cable car. Climbing to Huong Tich cave will be quite difficult, if there are old and young people in the group or want to save time, you can choose to take the 2-way cable car, or go one way up by cable car and walk down in the afternoon, this way will take less effort. Finally, Giai Oan pagoda is located on Long Tuyen mountain. Giai Oan Pagoda worships Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara. In the pagoda, Giai Oan well with transparent water.

With this schedule, if you have more time, you can visit Tien Son cave, Tran Song temple, and Hinh Bong pagoda.

  • Long Van route:

Ben Duc - Trinh Temple - Long Van Pagoda - Long Van Cave - Sung Sam Cave

Schedule as well as Huong Tich route. After the ceremony is over at Trinh Temple, you take the boat to continue. Turn right to go to Huong Tich and turn left to go to Van Long pagoda, Van Long cave. This is a temple and a cave located on the side of a green mountain all year round. After visiting the cave and pagoda, you will continue to Sung Sam Cave to worship Buddha.

 

  • Tuyet Son route:

Ben Duc - Trinh temple - Tuyet Son pagoda - Bao Dai pagoda - Ngoc Long cave - Fish pagoda

5. Some notes when traveling Huong Pagoda

  • Along the way to Huong Tich, there are many restaurants and souvenir shops. There is a full service of eating and sleeping for Buddhists along both sides of the road to the mountain.
  • Eating at the Perfume Pagoda during the festival season will be very expensive. You should contact in advance with some reputable quality restaurants here to order meals before starting, when you return to rest, you will have room and food right away.
  • If you go to Huong Pagoda in the crowded festival season, along the way to Yen stream wharf, there will be a lot of "boat storks" following to disturb you. Avoid using the services of these people because it is easy to be taken lots of money. You should go to Yen stream wharf to buy tickets.
  • There is also a situation of cramming passengers on the boat or increasing the fare, please negotiate carefully about the price as well as the maximum number of passengers on the boat before going.
  • Yen stream is quite deep, so you must pay attention to safety when sitting on the boat, as well as keep your belongings carefully.
  • Dress neatly and dignified when going to the temple, you should wear sports shoes for easy climbing and movement.
  • Beware of pickpockets in crowded areas, but during the holiday season, every place is crowded.
  • Don't trade rare and wild animals.
