1. Where is Dai Yem Waterfall?
Dai Yem Waterfall is at village road 43, Muong La commune, Moc Chau district, Son La province. This place is considered a symbol of Moc Chau plateau with a beautiful natural scenery.
Dai Yem Waterfall was formed from Vat stream which is origin from Co Lam and Ta Con water areas, about 600m from this waterfall. These two flows are blocked by a limestone wall, when the water rises to the shore, it will form streams of water pouring down the stone steps, looking from afar, the waterfall has a pure and romantic beauty between the wild landscape of the mountains.
One thing that makes this waterfall majestic is that it has an ideal height of up to 100m and is divided into 2 different branches. A branch with 9 floors represents 9 layers of love and a branch with 3 floors.

2. The birth of the name Dai Yem
Many people often wonder why this waterfall is called Dai Yem waterfall. According to the locals here, this waterfall is associated with a legend dating back to ancient times. There is an orphaned couple who fall in love, but their love is separated by war.
Before the young man set off to fight, the two made an appointment to say goodbye at the top of the waterfall. But the boy was unfortunately killed in battle, leaving the girl to visit the waterfall every day to wait.
Suddenly one day when there was a storm, the girl was missing. Later, a woman's bib was found on a treetop right at this waterfall. Merciful for the love of the couple, the people here named it Dai Yem waterfall.

3. Directions to Dai Yem waterfall
From the center of Moc Chau town, you move down towards Son La province. When going to the junction of Long Sap border gate, turn to a small road (not the road to Highway 6) and then go about 5km more to reach Dai Yem waterfall.
To be able to admire and enjoy this magnificent waterfall you will have to move a further distance. After reaching the waterfall gate, you park your car outside and then walk inside to the concrete road. From this concrete road moving down about 14m, you will see a new concrete bridge spanning the stream about 30m long and then through 23 cement stairs on both sides to reach the foot of the waterfall.

4. When should you go to Dai Yem waterfall?
According to the experience of many people going to Dai Yem Moc Chau waterfall, the most ideal time for you to visit is from April to October every year.

Admire the majestic large waterfall
You may be overwhelmed to know that the large waterfall in Moc Chau covers an area of more than 4000m2. If you stand at the top of the waterfall, you will admire the impressive panoramic view of the majestic mountains.
This waterfall has a height of about 100m, surrounded by other small waterfalls. From a distance, the waterfalls form a white mist. Not only that, at the foot of the waterfall is extremely rich vegetation with interlocking vines or large old trees.
The special thing about this large waterfall is that the waterfall is divided into 3 floors. The first floor from upstream flows down a vertical valley with a depth of up to 40m forming a beautiful clear lake.

The second floor is only about 5m away, with a depth of about 20m. In particular, there is also a path going from side to side which is very convenient for visitors to explore. From the top of the waterfall, the water flows down and hits the rocks, making the scenery more majestic than ever.
The last 3rd floor is about 7m high from the 2nd floor. From here you can see many large and small stones lying under the stream. Here you can look inside the water or enjoy the pure fresh spring water that nature has bestowed on Dai Yem waterfall!

Walking on the small waterfall
On the way down to the big waterfall you will meet a fork, now go to the right about 50m you will see the small waterfall. It is small, but the area of this waterfall is more than 3000m2!
At the foot of the waterfall is a small lake created from the flow of the waterfall at a height of 40m. The special thing about the small waterfall compared to the big waterfall is that it has a much richer and more diverse flora and fauna system.
